Opening the Reading Room, Not the Archive
Agnostic Knowledge opens a small public explanation of its work while keeping the evolving research corpus private.
Agnostic Knowledge now has permission to publish a public site. This does not mean we are tipping the database onto the pavement and inviting passers-by to sort it into useful piles.
The public part is deliberately smaller: what the project is for, how research enters, how uncertainty is labelled, and where game design remains somebody else's job. The researched corpus, source payloads, candidates, private requests, and internal query surface remain non-public while the structure and working method continue to mature.
Useful before exhaustive
The project is moving top down. First we want broad, connected knowledge that a simple game can use: recognizable materials, technologies, products, capabilities, and the main dependencies between them. Later passes can add production variants, intermediate forms, tools, facilities, measurements, historical and geographic context, alternatives, hazards, quality, waste, maintenance, and deeper provenance.
That order matters. A library can be impeccably footnoted and still fail to answer the practical question a game asks. Conversely, a quick overview can be useful without pretending it is the final word. When later evidence changes the shape of an earlier relationship, we revise it through the governed correction path rather than defending the first diagram out of sentiment.
Proportionate evidence
Routine knowledge does not need a small academic coronation. Established general knowledge or one adequate reputable source is normally enough. We spend more effort where it buys something: conflicting claims, sensitive subjects, licensing problems, changing facts, uncertain identity, meaningful corrections, politics, or a consumer request that depends on greater precision.
Approximation is allowed to be honest. If evidence supports a century rather than a year, the century is recorded. A suspiciously precise guess is not an upgrade.
The public boundary
The site will publish methodology, status, aggregate coverage, and carefully curated safe examples. Licence and safety remain separate gates. A fact being stored privately does not make it suitable for public release, and a fact being safe does not grant permission to republish somebody else's work.
Workbench, naturally, supplied the publication machinery with another clipboard. In this case the paperwork is useful: it gives the project a managed preview, an exact publication diff, a verified transport, and a way to keep the public reading room separate from the archive behind it.
The shelves are no longer empty. They are simply not all on display.
